Avgoustinos holds a Ph.D. from Ionian University, A Master's Degree (MSc) in Medical Informatics from New York State University (SUNY), and a Bachelor's Degree (BSc) in Information Technology from St. Francis College (SFC) in New York.
Over the past eleven years, Avgoustinos has been a Senior Officer specializing in Digital Humanities and Digital Cultural Heritage Informatics at The Cyprus Institute's Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Center (STARC). Before joining The Cyprus Institute, he worked for approximately ten years in the information technology, informatics, and medical informatics sectors in the USA and Cyprus. Additionally, he served as a college lecturer in computer science and web development for three years.
Research Interests
His research interests focus on digital humanities, structured content, virtual museums, museums' online collections, digital libraries, and the Semantic Web. His research activities include writing scientific papers and participating in scientific conferences, workshops, proposals for research projects, and the documentation and analysis of works of art and cultural heritage
